AnarchismAnarchy... sound farmiliar. What do you think of when you hear that? Bombs? Killing? Terrorism? This is what most people think of when they hear the word. But that is not the true meaning of Anarchy or Anarchism.
Anarchist L. Susan Brown describes it best when she said:
"While the popular understanding of anarchism is of a violent, anti-State movement, anarchism is a much more subtle and nuanced tradition then a simple opposition to government power. Anarchists oppose the idea that power and domination are necessary for society, and instead advocate more co-operative, anti-hierarchical forms of social, political and economic organisation."
In being an anarchist you must stand for what you believe in. This sometimes includes opposing the government. Below i will be adding quotes to help you better understand what Anarchy is all about.
The man Of virtuous soul commands not, nor obeys: Power, like a desolating pestilence, Pollutes whate'er it touches, and obedience, Bane of all genius, virtue, freedom, truth, Makes slaves of men, and, of the human frame, A mechanised automaton. -Percy Bysshe Shelley-
